Interactive Whiteboards in Today's Classroom
I think that Interactive Whiteboards are useful but not essential in a modern day classroom. I honestly think that it really depends on the teacher. I've had some teachers who have not used it correctly and it seems to be a waste having it in the classroom. I've also seen it be used very effectively as well.
Interactive Whiteboards play a major role in differentiation in the classroom. They provide multiple ways for teaching students with different learning styles. With it's ability to go on the web, play games, and interactive activities it can entertain students and keep them interested about what they are learning. According to a study conducted by Marzano Research Laboratory and funded by Promethean smart boards do increase point gain by a decent amount!
The only problem with these IWB is the amount of money you need to set aside for a number of them. Are they worth all the money? My opinion is yes, they are. It's many uses far outweigh the cost of each IWB. With their almost limitless gadgets they help teachers create interactive lesson plans tha

I disagree with you opinion on whether the whiteboards are worth the cost. On the other hand you have a good understanding of how it does depend on how the teacher incorporates the IWB in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree about the whiteboards being worth it in the class as long as the teacher knows what they're doing!! That's probably one of the most important things when using this technology, because if you don't know how to use it and you're just using it for notes what makes it any different than a regular whiteboard?

This tells me that if 1) A teacher knows how to use a smart board that 2) a smart board can be a very useful tool. Chances are that the teachers whom you think have done nothing except waste their smart boards are the ones that were never taught how to use it. I think smart boards are a very useful as well as, effective tool for the classroom.
